Muscat: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing siege imposed by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip, highlighting the urgent need for international intervention to allow humanitarian aid into the area. According to Oman News Agency, the GCC Secretary General, Jasem bin Mohammed Al Budaiwi, stated that the blockade has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with widespread famine and dwindling supplies of food and medical resources. This situation is described as a violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and human rights principles, necessitating an immediate response from the global community. Al Budaiwi emphasized that the Israeli occupation authorities are fully responsible for the humanitarian issues in Gaza, accusing them of employing a policy of collective starvation. He labeled these actions as war crimes that require urgent international accountability. Furthermore, the GCC urged the international community, including all states, in stitutions, and organizations, to take swift action to end the siege. This includes halting the violence, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, reopening crossings, and preventing further loss of innocent lives. The GCC Secretary General also reiterated the council's support for the Palestinian people's rights, including their right to a dignified life, freedom, self-determination, and the achievement of a fair and lasting peace in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
