French President Emmanuel Macron denounced on Sunday the assassination attempt on former U.S. president Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. President Macron wrote on X that his thoughts are with Trump and wished him a speedy recovery, affirming, "France shares the shock and indignation of the American people." In a similar tweet, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stephane Sejourne called the shooting a "shocking attack on Donald Trump," affirming that "political violence and intimidation in democracy are unacceptable." The former president was the target of an assassination attempt while he was speaking at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. He suffered only a minor injury to his right ear, while an adult male standing in the audience was killed, and two others suffered critical injuries.
