First Sustainable Maritime Journey Exploring Omani Coasts Launched

Musandam: The activities of the “Oman 3165” journey were launched today in the Musandam Governorate, under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, and in the presence of the Walis and a number of officials from government entities in the Governorate. This journey is considered the first of its kind in the region, highlighting national efforts to achieve Net Zero by 2050. It aims to explore the Omani coasts, stretching for 3,165 kilometers, in a sustainable maritime trip that relies entirely on paddling, currents, and waves, without any carbon emissions.

According to Oman News Agency, the journey aims to document the marine biodiversity and coastal ecosystems in the Sultanate of Oman, through cooperation with a number of academic and scientific institutions to produce educational and awareness content to be published globally via digital platforms, podcasts, and educational programs. Thus, the Omani coasts transform into an open educational platform that highlights Oman’s leadership in environmental protection and climate action.

It is worth noting that the Oman 3165 journey is considered a national story that connects people and the sea across the past and the future, linking Oman to the world, and enhancing the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading destination for sustainability and environmental innovation.
