Environment Authority Documents Nesting Sites of Ospreys in Musandam Governorate

Musandam: The Environment Authority recently conducted a field study to monitor and document the nesting sites of ospreys in the Governorate of Musandam. This initiative aligns with the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance marine biodiversity conservation programs in the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the osprey, a large bird of prey known for its white head, brown wings, powerful talons, and yellowish eyes, typically inhabits coastal areas and nearby islands, where it primarily feeds on surface fish. Despite being globally classified as an endangered species, the osprey is considered less vulnerable within the Sultanate of Oman. This makes the monitoring of ospreys in Oman a crucial step towards the conservation of seabirds.
