Dollar Fluctuates in Asian Trading as Markets Weigh Fed Comments


Tokyo: The US dollar today faced continued pressure in Asian trading as investors assessed remarks from Federal Reserve officials for clues on the path of interest rates. The greenback fluctuated between gains and losses, last trading flat after snapping a three-day winning streak on Monday, with the US dollar index last at 97.326.



According to Oman News Agency, against the yen, the dollar was flat at 147.775 yen. The kiwi weakened 0.3% to $0.5848, while the euro stood at $1.1798, little changed on the day. Sterling experienced fluctuations, last trading flat at $1.35075. The dollar declined by 4.5% against Argentina’s peso.



The Indian rupee weakened to an all-time record of 88.62 against the US dollar. The Australian dollar fetched $0.6584, weakening 0.2% after hitting a two-week low on Monday. Meanwhile, the yield on benchmark 10-year Treasury notes extended its climb to 4.1467%.
