Baku: Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, recently held talks with Farid Hajiyev, Head of the Civil Service and HR Department of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the National Assembly headquarters to explore ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and share expertise.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Azerbaijan. Both parties acknowledged the support these ties receive from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, emphasizing their commitment to advancing cooperation at all levels.
Al Buainain emphasized the Council’s initiatives to foster a partnership with the Milli Majlis, unveiling plans to expand cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence for parliamentary purposes, digital archiving, smart legislative systems, and environmental sustainability. He noted Bahrain’s achievement in becoming the first parliament in the Middle East and Asia to receive ISO 14001:2015 certification as a Green Parliament, a milestone accomplished under the leadership of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives.
The Azerbaijani officials praised the robust parliamentary ties and stressed the significance of visits and institutional exchanges. They also recognized Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, for her efforts in promoting multilateral parliamentary cooperation through the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
Further talks touched on Bahrain’s active role in regional and international parliamentary forums, with the Milli Majlis appreciating the Kingdom’s contributions to coexistence, tolerance, and collaboration on sustainable development and human rights.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to broaden cooperation through visits, joint projects, and friendship groups aimed at enhancing political, economic, and cultural ties.
