Muscat: Through its offices in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, the Consumer Protection Authority is stepping up efforts to ensure the stability of market prices amid the impacts of the weather condition (Al Masarrat low pressure system).
According to Oman News Agency, the Authority is monitoring suppliers' commitment to laws regulating the provision of goods and services to members of the public. It is conducting check-up campaigns in markets and commercial centres with the aim of ensuring the availability of basic and consumer goods and verifying the integrity of supply chains.
The Consumer Protection Authority is also maintaining its coordination with the government departments concerned to discuss any observations or impacts related to the recent weather condition.
The Authority commended the awareness of consumers and valued their cooperation in reporting violations. It also urged suppliers not to exploit the emergency conditions to achieve illicit gains.
The Consumer Protection Authority has affirmed its pledge to enhance market stability and protect consumer rights in line with Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to establish a fair economic environment and provide sustainable services in a manner that ensures the well-being of society in all circumstances.
