Beirut: The Lebanese Army held a 10-kilometer race this morning in Beirut under the slogan ‘Together We Reach,’ under the patronage and presence of Army Commander General Rodolphe Helou and his wife. Also in attendance were President of the Lebanese Athletics Federation Roland Saadeh and Beirut Marathon Association President May El-Khalil.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, at the race’s kickoff, General Helou stated: ‘The Lebanese people and the army are always together. Without the citizens’ love for the military institution, its performance wouldn’t have succeeded on all levels that’s the meaning of the slogan ‘Together We Reach.’
The race included participants from the army, security forces, UNIFIL, local athletics clubs and associations, university and school students, all under the supervision of the Army’s High Center for Military Sports. At the end of the race, General Helou presented awards to the winners and congratulated all participants.
