Oman and Uganda Chambers Ink Agreement to Boost Trade

Muscat:The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance economic and trade relations between Oman and Uganda.

According to Oman News Agency, the agreement aims to foster cooperation between private sector institutions, promote trade and investment initiatives, build partnerships, and expand business connections. This collaboration will involve exchanging economic and trade information, data, and reports, introducing markets and investment opportunities, and encouraging direct communication between business owners. Additionally, the two chambers plan to organize trade delegations, participate in exhibitions and economic events, exchange expertise in foreign trade and export promotion, and provide facilities for visiting delegations.

The signing ceremony was part of a meeting where Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI, welcomed a delegation from the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by Karamagi Alpha Charles, who is currently visiting Oman. Discussions during the meeting focused on ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, with an emphasis on expanding partnerships between private sector institutions.

Both parties explored investment opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, mining, and science, technology, and innovation. They discussed the potential for joint projects and partnerships in these sectors and reviewed incentives and facilities provided by Uganda to attract investment in priority areas.

Moreover, the two sides agreed to prepare a joint action plan to implement the MoU effectively. This includes designating a focal point at each chamber to oversee implementation and coordination, as well as exchanging information on key economic exhibitions and events. These efforts aim to enable business owners to explore participation opportunities, build direct trade relations, and coordinate with relevant Omani authorities to enhance partnership and cooperation prospects.
