NCSI Launches Artaj App, Coordinating Portal, and Central Data Warehouse

Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) launched today the interactive "Artaj" application, the Coordinating Portal for the State's Administrative Apparatus, and the Central Data Warehouse project during a ceremony held in Muscat.

According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the NCSI, stated that the launch of these three national initiatives embodies the Centre's commitment to continuing the development of the statistics and information ecosystem, enhancing statistical culture, and harnessing modern technologies to support the renewed renaissance and enable evidence-based decision-making.

He added that data is one of the main enablers of economic and social development. He pointed out that the Centre is keen to develop an integrated national ecosystem for statistics and information that contributes to raising the efficiency of institutional performance and enhancing integration among government entities, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Al Barwani explained that the interactive "Artaj" app stems from the importance of spreading statistical and knowledge culture among various segments of society, and establishing awareness of the importance of data from early ages. This is achieved through an innovative interactive educational experience that combines knowledge and entertainment, contributing to developing children's cognitive curiosity and introducing them to statistical concepts in a simplified manner that suits the aspirations of the digital generation.

He indicated that the Coordinating Portal for the State's Administrative Apparatus represents a central digital platform to enhance institutional integration among government entities. This is done by unifying communication and coordination channels, and facilitating the exchange of reports, publications, studies, government projects, and the results of surveys and public opinion polls, all within a reliable and secure digital environment.

The CEO of the NCSI further added that the portal will contribute to enabling government entities to share data, indicators, information, and studies in an organized and systematic manner. This supports decision-making and the formulation of public policies based on accurate informational foundations. It also enhances the shared utilization of institutional knowledge, elevates the efficiency of government performance, and contributes to reducing the duplication of efforts and improving the efficiency of resource utilization.

He elaborated that the Central Data Warehouse project is considered one of the strategic national initiatives supporting digital transformation. It aims to build an integrated national platform for data management, integration, and provision to various beneficiaries. This contributes to unifying national data sources, enhancing their quality and reliability, and supporting planning, policy-making, and evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, it enables the exchange of data among different entities with higher efficiency and facilitates the preparation of developmental studies and indicators that support performance measurement and keep pace with national priorities.

He explained that these initiatives are consistent with the directions of the National Strategy for Statistics and Information 2026-2030, which represents the national framework for developing the statistical and informational ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman. They also align with the objectives of the NCSI's Communication Strategy 2026-2030, which aims to enhance effective institutional communication, consolidate statistical culture, expand access to reliable information, and provide innovative knowledge products and services that meet the needs of various segments of society.

The inauguration of these three initiatives comes within the efforts of the National Centre for Statistics and Information to enhance the national data ecosystem, consolidate statistical culture, and develop the digital infrastructure that supports development and decision-making, keeping pace with the targets of Oman Vision 2040.
