Usufruct Contracts Signed for New Tourist Resort and Hotel in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed today two usufruct contract agreements to establish a 4-star resort in the Wilayat of Al Hamra in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate and a 5-star hotel in the Wilayat of Mirbat in Dhofar Governorate, at an investment cost exceeding RO 12 million.

According to Oman News Agency, the agreements were signed on behalf of the ministry by Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, while representatives of the concerned companies signed on their behalf. The signing of these usufruct contracts is part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote investment in the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as to adapt to economic developments aimed at diversifying sources of income. The projects are anticipated to serve local communities by creating job opportunities and meeting the tourism sector’s requirements for hotel rooms and tourist facilities.

Amira Iqbal Al Lawati, Director General of the Directorate General of Tourism Development at the Ministry, stated that these contracts are an extension of the investment program for tourism across all governorates of Oman. The initiative aims to realize the economic and social impacts of new projects by providing job opportunities and enhancing local content. It also seeks to increase the supply of hotel rooms and facilities, aligning with the targets of the comprehensive tourism development plan.

She explained that establishing a 4-star resort in Al Hamra and a 5-star hotel in Mirbat aligns with the Ministry’s directives to strengthen the tourism sector’s role and support the national economy. This will help stimulate tourism movement and encourage sector investments by developing the investment landscape and capitalizing on the strategic locations of both areas. The projects are expected to offer diverse tourism experiences, including the natural and tourist potentials of Al Hamra and Mirbat, and unique activities such as mountain trails and valleys.

The project in Al Hamra spans an estimated area of 25,000 square meters, with an investment cost of approximately RO 9,873,216. It aims to develop an integrated tourist destination combining adventure and relaxation while promoting environmental sustainability practices.

Meanwhile, the project in Mirbat spans 55,000 square meters with an investment cost of RO 3 million. It includes 121 hotel rooms, a main restaurant, cafes, an events and conferences hall, sports courts, swimming pools, and other amenities.
