Maintenance, Rehabilitation Agreements Signed for Aflaj Systems in North Al Batinah

Geneva: North Al Batinah A number of agreements and contracts for the maintenance and rehabilitation of aflaj (traditional irrigation channels) in several wilayats of North Al Batinah Governorate were signed today at the office of the Governor of North Al Batinah, under the auspices of Mohammed Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah. The first phase of the projects includes the maintenance of twelve aflaj systems affected by the recent weather conditions, which caused disruptions and damage to a number of aflaj in the governorate. The maintenance works have been awarded to several specialized contractors using a competitive bidding system, with a total cost of RO 383,790.

According to Oman News Agency, the projects include maintenance and rehabilitation works for a number of aflaj in various wilayats of the governorate. In the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, maintenance will cover the aflaj of Al Safa' and Al Bid'ah, in addition to Falaj Al Hijari. In the Wilayat of A'Suwaiq, the works include maintenance of Hail Al Markh and Al Foud, as well as Hail Al Asfal, Al Banani, and Al Qafaisi.

The agreements also include maintenance of Falaj Al Hala, Al Tawi and Al Dhahrah in the wilayats of Sohar and Shinas, in addition to the maintenance of Falaj Al Rawdah in the Wilayat of Saham.
