A'dakhiliyah governorate: The A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, is advancing an extensive series of road and infrastructure projects worth more than RO 100 million. The projects aim to enhance infrastructure readiness, improve the transport network's efficiency, and support economic, tourism, and urban development across the governorate.
According to Oman News Agency, these initiatives include internal roads costing over RO 17.7 million and strategic road projects exceeding RO 82 million. They are distributed between internal roads serving residential neighborhoods and strategic projects linking wilayats and governorates, aligning with recent urban and economic expansions in A'Dakhiliyah.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid Al Saadi, Wali of Nizwa and Acting Governor of A'Dakhiliyah, emphasized the vital role of road projects in comprehensive development, improving connectivity, supporting commercial activities, and enhancing quality of life. He stated that the governorate is coordinating with authorities to implement high-quality projects that align with Oman Vision 2040, contributing to a more efficient road network and better road safety.
In Nizwa, ongoing internal road projects cover 26 kilometers at a cost of over RO 2.2 million, with a completion target of April 2026. A project to add an exit and parking spaces at the Nizwa Central Market is also underway. Strategically, the ministry is working on the Izki-Farq dual carriageway, a 30.4-kilometer project with completion at 27 percent, improving road safety and supporting economic activity.
The Nizwa-Bahla dual carriageway project, currently in the analysis phase, aims to improve road safety and traffic efficiency. In Bahla, internal road projects total 18 kilometers, supporting urban expansion and tourism, particularly around heritage sites like Bahla Fort and Jabrin Castle.
Strategic efforts include completing the Sant-Wadi Al Aala road and the Jabal Shams road project, enhancing connectivity and tourism. Internal road projects are also in progress in Manah, Al Hamra, Adam, Izki, Samail, Bidbid, and Al Jabal Al Akhdar, supporting urban development and improving access to essential services.
Sheikh Mahmoud affirmed that these projects highlight the focus on infrastructure as a sustainable development enabler, enhancing the governorate's competitiveness and readiness for future growth.
