Oman and Russia Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, met with Georgy Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Oman and Russia to enhance cooperation and partnership across multiple sectors.

According to Oman News Agency, the discussions focused on building on the positive outcomes from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik's historic visit to Russia last year. Both sides expressed a strong desire to continue advancing bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as economic, commercial, investment, energy, transport, and tourism. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of fostering cultural, scientific, and technical cooperation to serve the mutual interests of both countries.

The meeting also covered a range of regional and international issues. Both parties agreed on the importance of intensifying consultation and joint action, developing mechanisms for international and multilateral cooperation, and adhering to international law in addressing global challenges. They stressed the necessity of promoting dialogue and diplomacy to support stability and peaceful coexistence around the world.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs; Munthir bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry; and Oleg Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Oman, along with other officials from both sides.
