Barka: At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers, will patronize tomorrow 'Thursday' the closing ceremony of the 2026 Camel Racing Festival for the Cup of His Majesty the Sultan. The event will take place at the Royal Camel Corps racecourse in Al Fulaij, the Wilayat of Barka. The event is organized by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps. According to Oman News Agency, the final day of the festival will feature six races, including the fifth race, designated for yearling camels 'Houl,' in which the winner will be awarded the Cup of His Majesty the Sultan. The races will be accompanied by a series of traditional Omani heritage performances, in addition to ceremonial displays on camelback performed by members of the Royal Camel Corps. The staging of the Camel Racing Festival for the Cup of His Majesty the Sultan reflects the attention accorded by His Majesty the Sultan to this cherished cultural legacy, as well as its vital role in preserving authentic Omani camel breeds.
