Police Arrest Two Tourists for Robbery of Jewelery From Store in Muscat

Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Directorate General of Inquires and Criminal Investigations, the Police Command of Muscat Governorate arrested two tourists of European nationalities after a report of theft of jewelery worth about RO 1 million.

According to Oman News Agency, the suspects, accused of carrying out an organized robbery from a jewelery store in the Muscat Governorate, reportedly arrived in the Sultanate of Oman with a tourist visa and stayed in a hotel near the jewelery stores in Al Ghubra area to explore the area and plan the robbery.

The crime report states that, at 4 am on robbery day, the suspects broke into the back wall of the store using a mechanical demolition tool, seized the jewelery, opened the safe and stole the cash saved therein.

The inquiry led to the arrest of the accused, the location of the crime tools and the recovery of the jewelery that was found hidden on the beach of A'Sifah area after being transported there by boat.
