Salalah: The deliberations of the third Zakat Conference and Exhibition, titled “Zakat and Corporate Identity: Workforce Efficiency and Enhancing Community Trust,” commenced today at Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. The three-day event is organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of His Sheikh Salim bin Mustahail Al Ma’shani, Advisor at the Diwan of the Royal Court, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Said Al Ma’mari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs. The conference features the presentation of 18 working papers, 7 training sessions, and a number of dialogue sessions with the participation of approximately 37 speakers. An accompanying exhibition will highlight the efforts and contributions of institutions concerned with Zakat in social and economic development.
The conference’s agenda addresses several key issues, including governance and accounting standards in managing Zakat funds, activating the role of women in Zakat committees, the legal frameworks and professional competence of Zakat workers, the cultural identity of Zakat institutions, societal awareness, Zakat jurisprudence and contemporary challenges, and professional development in institutional leadership.
The conference will also review Omani and international models and experiences in the fields of charity and Zakat work, focusing on the importance of enhancing community trust in Zakat institutions and their role in serving society. On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition of Zakat committees and a Zakat arts exhibition will be held, showcasing the use of modern technologies in the work of the committees and the mechanisms for managing Zakat funds.
