State Council Chairman Hosts Chinese Vice Chairman for Strategic Discussions


Muscat: Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, today welcomed Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, along with his accompanying delegation during their two-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman.



According to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Al Khalili expressed a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation and emphasized the long-standing historical ties between Oman and China. He articulated his desire to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and explore new opportunities for cooperation under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.



The discussions between the two sides focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanging views on regional and international issues of shared interest. Sheikh Al Khalili detailed the roles and responsibilities of the State Council, highlighting its significant contributions to the nation’s development, particularly in economic sectors aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.



Xiao Jie, the Chinese Vice Chairman, conveyed his satisfaction with the visit and expressed the delegation’s eagerness to witness further progress in the flourishing relationship between Oman and China.



The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the State Council, several members, and the Ambassador of China to Oman. The visit is aimed at exchanging legislative expertise, exploring diverse experiences, and discussing legislative and public policy perspectives, especially in the fields of economy, technology, and environment.



The Chinese delegation’s itinerary includes several official meetings and visits to notable tourist landmarks in Oman.
