A'RUSTAQ: The fourth edition of the Oman Geological Heritage Exhibition, titled "Sustainability and Job Opportunities," has officially opened at Al Hazm Fort in the Wilayat of A'Rustaq, located in the South Al Batinah Governorate. This exhibition, which will continue until June 2025, is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Office of the Governor of South Al Batinah, Petroleum Development Oman, and the Geological Society of Oman. The event aims to enrich the museum landscape while promoting tourism and heritage in the various regions of the Sultanate.

According to Oman News Agency, the exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of Eng. Masoud Said Al Hashimi, Governor of South Al Batinah. This initiative reflects the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism's commitment to emphasizing the significance of Oman's geological heritage, ensuring its preservation and sustainability. The exhibition is structured into six thematic sections, each focusing on different aspects of Oman's geological wealth, including its diverse geological formations and historical development.

The exhibition features striking geological artifacts, such as a fossil estimated to be around 800 million years old. It also presents three-dimensional scientific models, including those of an extinct primitive elephant with fossilized teeth discovered in the 'Eidam' area of Dhofar Governorate, and a model of an extinct dinosaur with fossilized bone remains found in Al Khoudh in the Wilayat of A'Seeb. These exhibits showcase the unique geological fossils that Oman has to offer, underscoring both the importance of preserving these treasures and the potential job opportunities in the field of geotourism.
