The Paris Olympics cauldron has been glittering in the skies since French Olympic gold medalists Teddy Riner and Marie-Jose Perec set it alight during the elaborate inauguration of the international competitions. The cauldron, depicting a parachute and flown from a location close to the Louvre Museum pyramid in the Tuileries Garden, was designed by the French artist Mathieu Lehanneur. Organizers say the cauldron, attached to a balloon, flies more than 60 meters above the ground every day from sunset until 2 a.m. The base of the balloon contains 40 LED bulbs that emit vapor through a high-pressure sprinkle, depicting a raging flame.
