Under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to expand the implementation of the Government Land Development Programme, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, opened the “Suhail” housing project, in the presence of Housing and Urban Development Minister, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi.
Including 132 housing units, the project is part of the Government Land Development Programme, which is implemented in partnership with the private sector.
The Deputy Premier affirmed that the partnership with the private sector in providing housing units through the Government Land Development Programme has proven its worth, as it gives creative solutions and excellent housing services to citizens at reasonable prices, noting that the scheme is in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the partnership with the private sector in all fields, especially in the housing services, is at the forefront of the government’s priorities for its 2023-2026 programme to consolidate the sustainability of housing services and ensure they are handed to the citizens on time, stressing the continuity of efforts to develop solutions that meet the demand and, at the same time, contribute to meeting the aspirations of the citizens for adequate housing.
He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Housing and Urban Minister, the Housing Ministry’s staff and the project developer for their efforts to prepare for the inauguration of the project, noting that the “Suhail” project is a model to follow for future projects which are implemented under the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and under the umbrella of the Government Land Development Programme, carried out in partnership with the private sector.
Minister Amna Al-Rumaihi expressed thanks and appreciation to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minster for launching the project, noting that it represents a real and successful experience for the Government Land Development Programme.
She affirmed that Ministry has doubled its efforts to implement the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister regarding the Government Land Development Programme, highlighting plans to implement eight extra projects in partnership with the private sector during 2023-2024 to provide thousands of housing units from real estate and development companies on government-owned lands owned in different urban areas.
The minister also expressed her thanks to the Deputy Premier for opening the project, hailing the Deputy Premier’s keenness to support the implementation of the Government Land Development Programme, in the coordination with the relevant ministries and government entities and through the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, in order to ensure its success.
The minister said, “Today, we feel proud and happy that the project was completed and made available for the citizens as a housing option offering units with high-quality technical specifications in terms of construction, finishing, and thermal insulation system, in addition to being derived from the latest approved building models.”
She explained that the “Suhail” is one of the housing projects that offer units that match the value of the financing provided by the Ministry, which will be presented starting today, through the platform of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning at the Housing Finance Exhibition, which is being held in the City Centre Bahrain.
It is noteworthy that the 132-unit “Suhail” project is located in the Al-Lawzi suburb. Each unit consists of four bedrooms, a majlis, a living and dining hall, a kitchen, toilets, and a garden, in addition to an internal garage that can accommodate two cars, and an additional external parking lot. The project has three main entrances. It is also approximate to the necessary community facilities such as schools and shops. The project units are also distinguished by the presence of internal spaces that enable them to be expanded in the future.
