Under HM King’s patronage, 4th Global Reciter Competition kicks off

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry announced the launch of the fourth edition of the Bahrain international web-based holy Quran recitation competition (Global Reciter) on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made during the meeting held by the supervisory committee of the global competition, under the chairmanship of Justice Ministry’s Undersecretary for Justice and Islamic Affairs, judge Isa Sami Al-Mannai.

The panel lauded the royal patronage of the competition, praising the interest of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in serving the holy Quran and promoting its teachings and values across various social segments.

The committee also commended the support of the President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and constant follow-up of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, Nawaff bin Mohammed Al-Maawda.

The panel was informed about the efforts exerted by the Holy Quran Affairs Directorate to prepare well for holding the fourth session of the global competition.

It also welcomed the support allocated by the SCIA to cover the awards of the competition winners, praising the interest of the Information Ministry in promoting the global competition. It also paid tribute to the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA) for putting in place and an electronic system for the competition.

The panel approved the competition’s timeline, and girls’ participation in two categories, namely the “Al-Qari Al-Hafiz” and “Al-Qari Al-Sagheer”, to pave the way for them to compete along with males.

The competition aims to serve the Holy Quran by encouraging encourage youngsters to recite it.

It also aims to highlight the efforts of the Kingdom in caring for the Holy Quran at the global level, and strengthen its distinguished initiatives in the field of e-government.

The competition is in four categories, including the “Al Qari Al Mojawed” (reciting the Quran with good pronunciation), “Al Qari Al Muratel” (reciting the Quran in the proper order), “Al-Qari Al-Sagheer” (young reader) and “Al-Qari Al-Hafiz” (reader who memorises the Quran).
